Harry’s Seafood Bar and Grille donates $2,600 to the Florida Association of Food Banks

Jacksonville, Fla. - April 18, 2012 – For the second year in a row, the Florida Association of Food Banks (FAFB) will benefit thanks to recent funds raised by Harry’s Seafood Bar and Grille.  Harry’s joined the fight to create a Hunger-Free Florida by donating $1 from every Po'boy purchased in February which raised $2,600.  The funds will be spread across services that help FAFB's partnership of 14 food banks that serve all 67 counties in the Sunshine State.  Harry's also donated funds the previous year in 2011.

“It is gratifying that Harry’s was able to give back to the local community.” said Louis Saig, President of Harry’s Seafood Bar and Grille. “Every little bit helps make a difference. Helping families with life's basic need for food is as worthy a cause as it gets.”

As the Po’boy’s beginning was founded in helping others, Harry’s Seafood Bar and Grille is pleased to honor that history.  The Po’Boy was created by Bennie and Clovis Martin and provided free of charge to the streetcar motormen and conductors during the 1929 transit strikes in New Orleans, Louisiana.

"For every dollar we receive, our food banks can provide six to eight dollars worth of food to those who struggle with hunger." said Rebecca Brislain, Executive Director, Florida Association of Food Banks."We are grateful that Harry's continues to support our vision of a hunger-free Florida."

Harry's Seafood Bar and Grille currently has five locations serving the St. Augustine, Gainesville, Tallahassee, Ocala and Lakeland markets. For more information about Harry's Seafood Bar and Grille, call (904) 642-2165 x 108 or visit www.hookedonharrys.com.
