A Night at the Opera is the only fully-staged, professional opera production in Polk County. ISO musicians perform the music while talented nationally and internationally-renowned singers entertain from the stage.

In 2001, the Imperial Symphony Orchestra launched its first Night at the Opera thanks to the tremendous efforts of Greg and Christina Sale, local vocalists and supporters of the arts. Through the years, their leadership and the dedication of opera committee volunteers have produced 15 high-quality operas with talented performers from across the globe as well as our own community.

The two-week production schedule is intense, but still allows for the world-renowned principals to interact with local students in rehearsals as well as in Master Classes.

Now in its 16th production year, A Night at the Opera is a critical component of the ISO’s Season and its mission to educate, entertain and inspire audiences.

For the 2016-2017 Season, A Night at the Opera presents Pagliacci. Composed by Ruggero Leoncavallo, and just two acts long, Pagliacci tells a tale of a troupe of actors with real-life drama and intrigue.
