This complex Tony award-winning rock opera takes the ancient game of chess and weaves it into a metaphor for romantic rivalries, competitive gamesmanship, superpower politics, and international intrigues set against the backdrop of the Cold War. From Bangkok to Budapest, the players, lovers, politicians, and spies manipulate, and are manipulated, to the pulse of a monumental rock score that spawned the 1980s chart-topper, “One Night in Bangkok,” for the original West End production’s lead actor, Murray Head.

Music by Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson
