FSC Symphony Band, Jo Jossim, conductor

While architects create meaning through spatial “frozen” relationships of rhythm, proportion, and harmony, composers create meaning through the “fluid” interaction over time of these same elements. Using parallels and contrasts between architecture and music, FSC’s Symphony Band presents a tribute to the artists of mortar and music, taking as a point of departure compositions alluding to cities and their structures, as in Paris Sketches by British composer Martin Ellerby.
