LAKELAND, FL—Florida Dance Theatre presents “Celebrate Dance!” May 4 in honor of National Dance Week.
This free public event takes place 7 p.m. at the Lake Mirror Promenade and features as many as 15 artists’ acts, including various professional dancers from Florida Dance Theatre, as well as aspiring dancers from throughout Florida.
"This program is a platform for artists to show their talents to people familiar and not so familiar with dance,” said Carol Erkes, Florida Dance Theatre founder, “and also bring a family-friendly event to downtown."
National Dance Week is about raising awareness of dance and its contributions to society. Thanks to this weeklong observance, dance as an art form is growing – from the popularity of flash mobs to choreographed commercials. “Celebrate Dance!” is another way to show off how important dance is in American culture.
The Lake Mirror Promenade is located at 121 S. Lake Ave.
