What changed first, the band or the music? In answer to that question, the FSC Symphony Band traces the transformation of the wind ensemble and its repertoire from the 1950’s through the present. From band music that shifted from transcriptions to original works – and musical innovations that incorporated compositional and textural changes – judge for yourself the effects of change, band style, in pieces that include Redwood, a lyric tone poem by Ryan George and Fever (from “Lost Vegas”), a swinging tribute to the era of Las Vegas entertainers like Frank Sinatra, Elvis, and Peggy Lee.
